Software

Rizea Engineering conducts our CFD analysis using OpenFOAM. OpenFOAM is an open-source CFD solver widely deployed in both commercial and academic arenas. The open-source approach offers numerous advantages over commercial codes:

  • The source code can be modified to adapt to specific applications - improve convergence speed and stability
  • The solver can be packaged with custom parameters and GUI - let designers without CFD expertise leverage OpenFOAM in their work
  • Direct control over accuracy parameters - commercial codes can compromise accuracy in the name of convergence stability
  • Readily scalable - we can add local or cloud-based computing power without the need to purchase additional node licenses
  • An extensive library of validation cases in published academic literature

As with any modern CFD code, OpenFOAM is continually validated and verified, and it can tackle a wide range of problems:

  • Incompressible Flow
  • Compressible Flow
  • Multiphase Flow (Including Free Surface)
  • Phase Change
  • Combustion
  • Fluid-structure Interaction
